From the muddy banks of the bayous in Cypress, Texas, Greg has been playing and writing music since the age of 12. Influences range from The Rolling Stones to Jerry Jeff Walker, from Townes Van Zandt to Merle Haggard and beyond. Greg was the primary songwriter and lead singer/guitarist for the Houston band The Orphans from 1992 to 2000 playing in many venues all over the states of Texas and Louisiana.
The Orphans’ two records “Homecoming” and “Last Call/Retro-Devotion” can still be found on www.youtube.com today. Greg’s latest musical endeavor is known as “G.Vann & The Preacher Seeds” with friends and musicians Garrett Vann, Rusty Guess, David Farne, Paul Beebe and Will Van Horn. They've kept a focus on old-school/classic country with a heavy twang and solid tears bellowing from the pedal steel guitar.
The sound he has developed is a solid salute to the traditional sounds he heard as a young man growing up in the (what once was) small country town of Cypress, Texas. Air up your tube, crack one open, and float on down the river to the sounds of G.Vann & The Preacher Seeds.
Record #4 Motels, Truckstops, & Diners, Too is out now!
